Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme

Hi Beauties!

As a part of the Miss Jessie’s Natural Hair Product Review Series, I’ve decided to review Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme.

Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme is designed to be a moisturizer for babies and children who have curly and kinky textured hair.  However, this product can be used on adults, especially those who are not fond of the Original Curly ButterCreme because of the peppermint oil.

The consistency of Baby ButterCreme is almost like vanilla pudding. The scent of Baby ButterCreme is lighter than Curly ButterCreme. I think it’s more of a mixture of cake batter and a light perfume, that’s not overpowering.

Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme‘s Consistency

Baby ButterCreme contains Gylcerin, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Wheat Germ Oil and Hydrolyzed Keratin.

OoMochaCheena Note: This product does contain Petroleum and Mineral Oil. I just wanted to let you ladies know this just in case you are avoiding products that contain these ingredients.

How I Use Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme

I apply between a dime size and quarter size amount of Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme to my hair, especially the ends, daily. I then style my hair as usual.

That’s really all that I do.  My hair feels moisturized and soft, but not greasy or heavy. To me, it’s the perfect amount of moisture. I think if I used more than a quarter size amount though, there would be a possibility of having greasy hair.

Why I Favor Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme Over The Original Curly ButterCreme

I actually prefer Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme over the original Curly ButterCreme.  To me, the Curly ButterCreme has way too much peppermint oil. This overpowers the product in scent and makes your head feel cold. I actually couldn’t use it during the cooler months because it made my head feel extra cold.

Other than the extra peppermint oil, the two Butter Cremes are pretty much the same in consistency, and moisturizing power.

Some people might prefer the invigorating feeling of peppermint oil on their scalps, while some people may find it annoying. If you are the latter, I would recommend that you opt for the Baby Buttercreme .

My Final Verdict on Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme

I adore this product. It agrees with my hair and fits into my personal hair regimen perfectly.  It gives my hair enough moisture without weighing it down or being too greasy.

What I like most about this product is that it doesn’t cause my hair to revert when I use it when my hair is straightened.  I know there are natural haired women who are concerned about reversion after spending much time straightening their hair. With Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme, you don’t have to worry about switching moisturizers.

Overall, I would say this is a fantastic moisturizer to add to your daily regimen, whether you are natural, relaxed, or in between.
